Daegeum is a large bamboo transverse flute which has 6 finger holes used in traditional Korean music. It has a buzzing membrane that gives it a special bright timber.
Koto is a is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument derived from the Chinese zheng and was first introduced to Japan from China in the 7th and 8th century.

In my piece, “Ha-dô” which literally translates from the Japanese as the wave motions, I tried to bring out the particularity of Daeguem technic, such spell of its rich timbers,
various vibrationsand bend which are produced by shoulder technic and mixture of fundamental tone by articulations and flatter tongue.
And same musical events but by different gestures which are produced by Koto such spell of plucking, rebounding, rabbing as sound materials and to combines the two instruments to create a new “meta-instrument” .
Especially the flow configuration which are produced by their single note fascinated me and remembers me wave motions.
I wanted to create layer of various rippes which occur by each single notes and to produce large swell of sound energy.
